Jeff Koons, Covent Garden
To celebrate/promote the new exhibition Pop Life: Art in a Material World Tate Modern borrowed Jeff Koons’ giant silver rabbit balloon and floated it in Covent Garden.
I must say it looked pretty spectacular and certainly drew a lot of attention. It was also amusing watching an enormous shiny animal weiding an inflatable carrot over those dining at the restaurants underneath.
(FYI The balloon itself was originally created for the 2007 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and the sculpture of which it is a scale model is one of the exhibits in Pop Life.)
