West End Maze, Trafalgar Square
This week Trafalgar Square has been playing host to a hedge maze as part of a West End Partnership project.
The idea is that exploring the maze leads you to the street signs of famous West End roads. These are accompanied by blue heritage plaques with facts about that location. The purpose is not so much to get lost as to discover by wandering and by reading. I think my favourite fact was that in the 17th century astrologers were attracted to Neal’s Yard by the sundial and star shaped street layout, not least because the phrasing made the astrologers sound like beetles rushing to a rotting piece of wood.
It’s on til tomorrow at 8pm and is completely free of charge so if you’re in the area I would definitely recommend taking a look!
