Van Gogh’s Starry Night In Dominos
I swear I could run an art blog solely based around ways artists rework and reinterpret Van Gogh’s Starry Night!
The latest creation I’ve seen is FlippyCat‘s domino rendition which took two attempts, 7067 dominos and 11 hours to put together (the first attempt fell – literally – victim to a dropped screw from the camera setup).
While it may not look much in the still images, the video will show you that the final toppling creates a great swirling motion across the sky section that really captures the movement of the original.
It wasn’t perfect – FlippyCat explains that “There were 2 small breaks in the fall of this project. I did not complete the leading grey line and left out a domino which stopped the reaction in the bottom. The star that is left standing was very close to falling, but the first dominos held in place :(”
